What is an active user?

The term "active user" in our pricing can be defined as anyone who signs up, leaves the application and then returns. New users (signups) don't count!

If a user signs up and logs back in, but never returns, will they be considered an active user this month, and all following months?

In this case, the user would count towards the Monthly Active User (MAU) limit.

For example, if in January, user Bob signs up then returns to the website the next day, they will be counted as a MAU. If Bob does not return to the website in February, he will not count as a MAU that month. If he returns to the site in March, he will be counted as a MAU.

Monthly Active User Limits

Will I be notified when I get close to my Monthly Active User limit?

Yes, you will be emailed when you reach 70% of your monthly active user limit, and again when you reach 99% of your limit.

Will new users still be able to sign up even after I reach the Monthly Active User limit?

All plans have unlimited signups! For the free tier, users who try to log back in after you reach your MAU limit will encounter an error. You can see the details on our pricing page.

Why am I encountering login issues after 20 MAUs on the free tier?

The pktest keys have a 20 MAU limit. If you switch to the pklive keys you will have the full free tier MAU limit.

Other Common Errors

If you run into the below error The current user is not authorized to access the requested resource. Please make sure the user is authorized to all input parameter entities. It's most likely because you regenerated API keys, and either updated one of them, or none.

I lost access to my 2FA Authenticator

When you enabled 2FA, a file called Fortmatic-2FA-Emergency-Backup.png was downloaded. If you still have that, you can use it to recover your account. If not, email support@fortmatic.com
